It’s a matter of stewardship. And to be good stewards, we would like to build!
WBNH is at a crossroads. As we enter a new year, we have a vision for growth and expansion. And it will involve the brothers and sisters in Christ who support us year after year.
You may remember back in 2005 when this station determined that God wanted us to build a new radio tower. We firmly believe in good stewardship and felt the time was right to erect a new tower. Then God opened the door for us to purchase a gorgeous parcel of land in East Peoria overlooking the Illinois River valley and in late 2006, a new 500-foot tower became reality. Now that we own the land, we have opportunities that were never before afforded.
In short, we’d like to now build a new studio!
If God wills, 2009 will be a growth year for this station that we have never before seen. Our needs continue to change, as we add new programs and new staff to the station. Yes, we are acutely aware of the current financial condition of our country and the entire world. But, we also feel God is leading His people in this venture and we’re confident He will make this happen in His time.
We’d like you to pray for our station at this critical time in our history and how God would use you to assist us in this huge undertaking. As good stewards of what He gives us, we first want to retire the approximate $350,000 remaining debt on our tower. You may remember the total cost of the tower and the land was about $750,000.
Then to build a new studio and completely re-wire a radio station is no small project. We want to keep it simple, yet be big enough to allow us the room that we sorely need. We estimate the new building and all the developments inside and outside of it would amount to $650,000. If you do the math, that totals a nice number - $1,000,000 which might seem frightening, but with God, we feel anything is possible.
We have an artist’s rendition of what our new building would look like. It would not be big, but would include two floors so we could share it with those that would need a meeting space. The building would also be situated on the lot so that we could expand in the future as our needs would demand.

Our new building campaign is called Build To Reach Out. You could call it Phase II of our building campaign of three years ago, Building Up/Reaching Out. Hence the play on words.
Build To Reach Out will involve those connected with our ministry that wish to actively give to this ministry in a way they never before could. Looking at our goals above, you’ll see some lofty figures. Let’s break it out like this, with the number of donors and amounts. Keep in mind – these are just suggested numbers, but we feel God will raise up partners for us this year like He never before has.
1 partner, donating $250,000
4 partners @ $100,000
5 partners @ $50,000
10 partners@ $10,000
Of course, there are numerous combinations of how you could share the giving with another WBNH listener. When speaking of amounts such as these, a certified financial planner would be a good person to consult. There are various tools to consider, as well:
IRA Rollover
Donor Advised Fund (DAF)
Gift of Decreased Stock
We would ask that you consider what you can do for this ministry.
First, seriously and prayerfully ask God what He would want you to do.
Next, consult, as we mentioned above, with a financial planner, one that would have a similar interest in giving.
Finally, contact us. Call Jim at the WBNH studios any weekday between 9:00 and 3:00. Or
We have several financial planners that have a vested interest in our station, like you, and can help determine the best ways you could help in this endeavor. Lord willing, on this website we’ll be sharing pictures of the progress of the building as it occurs. We thank you for your partnership!
