Open Auditions for "Martin Luther, A Beggar Before God" Musical

Sep 2, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

On October 31, 1517, Dr. Martin Luther walked up to the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany and posted 95 propositions entitled, “Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences.” This year marks the 500th anniversary of this historic work of God, which He began though the confession of faith of this one man, Martin Luther and all those who were caught up in the wake of the event known as the “Reformation.”

In celebration of the 500th anniversary, Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church is producing a play titled, “Martin Luther, A Beggar Before God, the Musical.” Immanuel is providing the script and financial and organizational support for this production. We are looking to the community to help make the play the best it can be.

We are now looking for people to audition for the cast and for volunteers to be a part of the crew. Our principle way of communicating with those interested in this production will be through our webpage (ImmanuelEP.org) and the play’s Facebook event page.

15th Annual Mark Linder Walk for the Mind - Support Brain tumor Research

Sep 30, 2017 from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM

The 15th Annual Mark Linder Walk for the Mind will be Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Peoria RiverPlex. The Mark Linder Walk for the Mind is a one-mile walk along the riverfront that promotes awareness of brain tumors. The Walk is a way to unite the survivors and their families as well as to remember those we have lost to brain tumors. The Walk also raises funds for brain tumor research at the University Of IL College Of Medicine at Peoria in hopes of a suitable treatment or a cure.

Every year between 40,000 and 50,000 primary brain tumors are diagnosed. Brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer related deaths in males aged 20-39 and the 5th leading cause of death in women aged 20-39. They are also the second most common solid tumor in children. There are no known specific risk factors for brain tumors.

Mark Linder's goal was to create a place where brain tumor survivors and those still fighting the battle can come and support one another in this battle. In an effort to reach out to other brain tumor survivors and to help raise funds for Brain Tumor research, Mark Linder founded the Walk for the Mind in 2003. In 2016, $50,000 was raised for brain tumor research in Peoria, IL. Mark Linder Walk for the Mind has raised over $520,000 since 2003.

For more information, go to www.marklinderwalkforthemind.org or www.facebook.com/marklinderwalkforthemind

Together we can make a difference and provide HOPE for those affected by brain tumors.

Sep 30, 2017 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Running With The Dogs 5K is Peoria's only race where you can participate with your dog! In addition to the race, we will have local animal rescues and pet-related vendors. All money raised benefits Paws Giving Independence, an all-volunteer organization that rescues shelter dogs, trains them to be service dogs & then places them as service dogs - all FREE to the recipients.
