Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making simple, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Our ministry was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent place to live in dignity and safety.

Habitat for Humanity homes are purchased by hard working families at a no interest 20 year mortgage. Families partner with Habitat to build their homes as well as work on other Habitat homes.  Each family gives 350 hours of sweat equity before moving into their home. Our homes are made with all new, top quality materials. Skilled labor is hired for the plumbing, electrical and excavating. Volunteers work side by side families and other volunteers on Saturdays to complete the building process.  We will be building our 100th home in East Peoria this summer.
