Back-to-School Prayers & Encouragement

Guidance and Encouragement about The School Year from Billy Graham

Billy Graham answers 5 key questions to offer guidance and encouragement about the school year. Questions like:

When should I start talking to my child about God?

What should I do when teachers or peers attack my faith?

Am I making a mistake going to a large public school where Christianity is ridiculed?

How do I avoid temptations at school?

5 Back to School Prayers for Kids

One of the best ways you can prepare your children this year as they go back to school is through prayer. And praying Scripture over them is one of the most powerful ways to pray.

Here are five back to school prayers you can pray for your kids and grandkids.

9 Bible Verses to Share with Your Kids as They Embark on a New School Year

Sharing some brief but powerful Bible verses with your kids as they head back to school is a wonderful way to equip them for the coming school year. There are verses for when they need encouragement...

Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Romans 8:28 -And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

2 Chronicles 15:7 - But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.

Psalm 37:24 - Though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

2 Timothy 1:7 - For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Galatians 6:9 - Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

1 Peter 5:7 - Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Psalm 120:1 - I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.

Philippians 4:6-7 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Prayer

With the new school year, let’s pause to pray for the students, teachers and more.  Continue to be praying for...

  • Logistics.  Pray that everything will be in place for students to enter the classrooms once again.  Pray that supplies, furniture, drop-off locations, bus routes and more all have been prepared for thousands of eager learners this fall!

  • Curriculum.  Pray that our children and grandchildren will learn the basics, while learning the truth!  Pray that what goes in their minds will enrich and edify their souls, too.

  • Teachers, staff & administrators.  Pray that those who prepare the next generation of leaders will be excellent leaders themselves.  Pray for their minds to be ready and their hearts to be willing to be great teachers and leaders and that the students will see this and want to learn.

  • Parents.  Pray that moms and dads will also be involved in the learning and lives of their children this fall.  Pray for active roles in the education of their children.

  • Pray that Jesus would get the glory when great things happen in the classrooms this fall!  This includes the public schools, private schools, Christian schools and the growing number of home-schoolers.  May all remember the One who makes learning profitable and fun!

Blessings to you this school year,
